    • From this introductory talk you will get a general overview of our course, come to know the lecturers and understand what allows humans to learn and use languages.

         

    • This episode focuses on reasons to motivate you to learn foreign languages; in other words we talk about what a foreign language gives you apart from words.

         

    • In this talk we finally address English as #1 among language learners and discuss what makes English so attractive.

         

    • In this talk we discuss how English came to be what it is - the global lingua franca of the modern world. In particular, we'll try to give answers to such questions as:

      • Where does English come from? Where are its origins?
      • How did it evolve from a tribal language to the worldwide language of science, education and technology?  

         

    • This talk focuses on where is English heading now, in particular we discuss:

      • Has its evolution come to an end, or is it still changing? If so, 
      • What's happening with it now? 
      • How do changes in English affect other languages, including Russian?

    • In this third talk we shall focus on comparing English with Russian, in order to understand where our mother tongue can help us in mastering English, and where it cannot be relied upon. In particular, the first episode will be focused on what the two languages have in common in terms of vocabulary, grammar and cultural background.

         

    • In the second episode of the third talk we shall look into the differences between your native language and the foreign language you are studying, both of which have their unique paths of development, as well as social and cultural environment.

         

    • In this part you will learn about:

      • basic terms of methodology 
      • 4 main types of language activities, as well as types of practicing exercises. 
      • language skills trained during the course
         

    • In this part you will learn about necessary language skills and stages of their formation. 

         

    • In this part you will learn about popular methods of language teaching.
